To provide the design information for ASIST system
CHESWICK, PA – Nov. 30, 2022 – Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division today announced that its INDAL business unit in Mississauga, Ontario has received an order to provide design services supporting Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program requirements. The contract was issued by Irving Shipbuilding Inc. in support of its contract with the Royal Canadian Navy for the supply of CSC ships. The design services will lead to the integration of Curtiss-Wright’s Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) helicopter handling system into the overall CSC design.
“This is great news for our team in Ontario. We are very pleased to support Irving Shipbuilding and the CSC program,” said Greg Hempfling, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division.
“The choice of the ASIST system demonstrates the Royal Canadian Navy’s continued confidence in Curtiss-Wright’s ability to provide the needed capabilities for handling aircraft in the severe conditions typical of the marine environment” said Colleen Williams, INDAL’s General Manager in Mississauga. “The selection of ASIST carries on the legacy of Canadian innovation which saw the first helicopter handling system developed for the Canadian Navy in the 1960s and since fitted to all Canadian Navy helicopter carrying ships.”
Curtiss-Wright’s INDAL business unit will provide all design services from its facility based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. This contract will help sustain the approximately 190 employees engaged in the design and manufacturing of customized aircraft handling solutions to several of the world’s leading navies.
