Curtiss-Wright To Host Nuclear Power Overview & Facility Tour

Curtiss-Wright Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Contract for ASIST Helicopter Handling Systems

Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) announced it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by ASC AWD Shipbuilder Pty. Ltd., on behalf of the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance, to supply Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) helicopter handling systems and modular lightweight tracks for three Hobart Class ships for the Royal Australian Navy. Curtiss-Wright will perform the work at its facility in Ontario, Canada with initial deliveries scheduled to begin in late 2009. The total contract value, including all follow-on options, is expected to be in excess of $15 million. The contract contains an option for a fourth shipset of equipment with a potential award in 2009.

The ASIST system is a state-of-the-art deck handling solution for shipboard helicopter operations. It integrates the functions required for landing and on-deck operations to stow large ship-borne helicopters. Using the ASIST system, all deck handling operations can be accomplished without the need for personnel on the flight deck. The ASIST system enables safe helicopter handling day or night, even in adverse weather and sea conditions. The system will initially operate with the Australian Navy legacy S-70B helicopters and will be compatible with future helicopter designs.

The AWD program will provide the Royal Australian Navy with one of the world's most capable all-purpose warships. The three AWD Hobart Class ships will provide an advanced air defense system capable of engaging enemy aircraft and missiles at ranges in excess of 150km. The AWD ships will include a helicopter for surveillance and response to support key warfare areas as a part of their core capabilities.

Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that it has received a Japan Ministry of Defense contract, through Mitsubishi Corporation, for the supply of a Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse (RAST) Mark VI helicopter handling system to be integrated on-board the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force 20DD destroyer platform

Curtiss-Wright's Defense Solutions facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, will perform work for this contract with delivery to the Japan Ministry of Defense scheduled for late 2010. The 20DD RAST Mark VI is a hybrid system that builds on the well-established capabilities of the RAST system currently in operation with the Japanese, U.S., Canadian, Australian, Spanish and Taiwan Navies. It incorporates selected features and capabilities from the more advanced Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) system also produced by Curtiss-Wright. The resulting hybrid system provides improved capabilities and functionality with reduced footprint and weight relative to earlier RAST systems.

The 20DD is the second ship in a class of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter-capable destroyers designed to incorporate the latest advancements in shipboard mission systems. The vessels will provide advanced defense against air, submarine and surface threats in area defense of the new DDG Groups.

Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that its Defense Solutions segment has received a contract from Fincantieri S.p.A for the supply of four hybrid steel and aluminum telescopic hangars for the Turkish Coast Guard Search and Rescue Ship Program.

The Turkish Coast Guard Search and Rescue Ship Program is a joint Italian/Turkish program with RMK Marine of Turkey building the Fincantieri designed ships. In addition to search and rescue, the multi-function vessel is being designed to meet the various needs of today's Coast Guard Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) patrol, concerning smuggling prevention, fire extinguishing and pollution prevention.

Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that it has received a follow-on contract from Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (NGSB) for the supply of helicopter hangar door equipment for installation on-board the USS Somerset, the ninth ship in the San Antonio-class of amphibious transport/landing platform dock (LPD) ships. The San Antonio-class, the U. S. Navy's new primary class of amphibious transport dock ship, will ultimately replace a number of older class LPD ships.
