The Curtiss-Wright Corporation announced today that it has received a contract from the United States Coast Guard Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (AR&SC) for the supply of Helicopter Probe and Aircraft Tracking System equipment for installation on the Coast Guard’s existing HH-65C helicopter. The installed equipment will enable the HH-65C to operate with the Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) system-equipped Maritime Security Cutter, Large class platforms.

The ASIST system is a state-of-the-art deck-handling solution for supporting shipboard helicopter operations. As a truly integrated system, it provides the capability to perform helicopter recovery, on-deck securing, maneuvering and deck traversing operations through a single-system solution. The system performs safe helicopter securing in conditions up to and including lower sea state six without attaching external cables or requiring on-deck personnel. The combined features and functionality of ASIST enable the system to meet and exceed the latest requirements for high sortie rates and optimized crew size.

ASIST was originally selected by the U.S. Coast Guard in June 2004 for installation on its new Deepwater aviation-capable cutters. The system will operate primarily with the Coast Guard’s legacy HH-65C aircraft and will also be operationally compatible with the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R helicopters.

Work for this contract will be performed at Curtiss-Wright's facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, with equipment deliveries to AR&SC scheduled for late 2009.
