Curtiss-Wright Receives Contracts Valued at Approximately $100 Million to Support Critical U.S. Naval Defense Platforms

DAVIDSON, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) today announced that it has been awarded contracts valued at approximately $100 million to provide pumps for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class submarine, Columbia-class submarine and Ford-class aircraft carrier programs. The awards were received from Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) to support ship construction.

The receipt of these new awards builds upon previously awarded contracts to provide propulsion valves, pumps and advanced instrumentation and control systems, valued in excess of $130 million, received in the second quarter of 2021.

Curtiss-Wright Receives Contract For HP Compressor Overhauls And Upgrades Supporting The Taiwan FMS Program

CHESWICK, PA – August 2, 2021 – Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division today announced it has received an order to provide High Pressure Air Compressor overhauls, upgrades and training of eight units aboard Foreign Military Service vessels being transferred to the country of Taiwan. The $3.6 million contract is the second award issued to Curtiss-Wright by VSE Corporation in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) for Taiwan. The first contract of $7 million was awarded in 2018 and was delivered in 2020.

“We are very pleased to support VSE and the FMS transfer program to Taiwan, and to have the Taiwanese Navy customer for our products,” said Greg Hempfling, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division. “The selection of Fleet Solutions for this effort demonstrates our service capabilities for our products, even when those products are home-ported, or deployed over the horizon”.

Curtiss-Wright’s Fleet Solutions business will overhaul and upgrade all compressors for these ships based in Taiwan. Curtiss-Wright will also deliver best-in-class training to the Taiwanese Navy for PLC upgrades and operations, just as it performs daily for the U.S. Navy.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – August 2, 2021 – Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE:CW) and X-energy jointly announced today that Curtiss-Wright has been selected to develop the Reactivity Control and Shutdown System for the X-energy Xe-100 Generation IV High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor. This effort will leverage Curtiss-Wright’s broad and diverse strengths in nuclear power generation technologies to develop an inclusive package of control rod drive mechanisms, control rods, and the associated power supply and control system.

The X-energy’s reactor technology was recently selected under the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOEs) Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP) to receive initial funding as part of a $3.2 billion program to build two advanced nuclear reactors that can be operational within seven years.

X-energy will deliver a commercial four-unit nuclear power plant based on its Xe-100 reactor design. The Xe-100 is a high temperature gas-cooled reactor that is ideally suited to provide flexible electricity output as well as process heat for a wide range of industrial heat applications, such as desalination and hydrogen production. It incorporates a range of design features that will not only enhance safety, but make them affordable to construct and operate, paving the way for the United States to deploy highly competitive advanced reactors domestically and globally.

CHESWICK, PA – June 30, 2021 – Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division today announced it has received an order to provide eleven of its MANTIS-RAM Aircraft Tug systems in support of Indian Coast Guard requirements. The contract was issued by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) of India in support of its contract with the Indian Coast Guard for the supply of HAL’s Dhruv Mk III helicopter.

CHESWICK, PA ­­ – March 3, 2020 – Curtiss-Wright today announced that the company is relocating a portion of its Steam & Air Solutions (SAS) business to a new office space located at 2475 Tarantine Boulevard in Wellsville, New York effective March 16.

The new location represents a commitment by Curtiss-Wright to maintain a presence in Wellsville. At its new location, SAS will provide office space for approximately 32 employees in engineering, finance, sourcing and project management.

Curtiss-wright and Frampton Construction Announce the Grand Opening of 144,000sf Facility in Summerville, South Carolina

CHESWICK, P.A. – December 17, 2019 – Curtiss-Wright’s EMS Division today announced that its Steam and Air Solutions (SAS) business unit has officially moved into their new state-of-the-art facility located in the Charleston Trade Center in Summerville, South Carolina.

The new 144,000-square foot building will support the design, manufacture, test, and shipment of Navy steam turbines and steam valves, nuclear steam turbines, aftermarket steam parts, upgrades, and overhauls.

“We are thrilled to be locating our operations in Summerville and look forward to supplying our mission-essential products and services from our new, modern manufacturing, testing, and office facility,” said Greg Hempfling, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the EMS division.

Construction of the facility began in 2018. It includes 109,000 square feet dedicated to manufacturing. The remaining 35,000 square feet houses offices for general management, product engineering, project management, quality, finance, sourcing, and manufacturing technical support. Construction of a steam test plant, which will be used by Curtiss-Wright to test products within the facility, is currently underway and will be operational by summer 2020.

It took an incredible amount of coordination and teamwork to customize this facility for housing the specialty machinery and equipment required for the important work they’ll do here,” said Chad Frampton, CEO of Frampton Construction.

To Supply Ship-Borne Helicopter Recovery Assist, Securing & Traversing (RAST) MK VI

CHESWICK, PA ­­ – July 15, 2019 – Curtiss-Wright’s EMS division today announced that it has received its next award to manufacture two more RAST MK VI Systems for the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) in support of their new frigate builds. The division’s INDAL business unit initially received an order for the first two new frigates in May 2018. These ships are expected to be a force of modern, high speed, multi-purpose frigates built in 3 baselines, the first baseline comprising 8 ships and a potential of twenty-two ships in total. The RAST MK VI is a helicopter handling system that fully integrates all of the functions required to safely operate and stow ship-borne helicopters in adverse weather and sea conditions up to sea state 6.

INDAL, based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, will perform the work for this contract, with delivery scheduled between December 2020 and March 2021. Curtiss-Wright has delivered more than 200 of its integrated Aircraft Handling Systems to navies around the world.
